NFL Mock Draft

Filter By:
Pick Team Player Position College Height Weight
1 Team Image Miami Dolphins Matt Ryan QB Boston College 6-5 225
I don't think that Bill Parcells believes John Beck is Miami's future at QB. I agree with him. Ryan is similar to Drew Bledsoe, who Parcells took at #1 in New England, except Ryan is more mobile.
2 Team Image St. Louis Rams Chris Long DE Virginia 6-4 285
St. Louis has to have a top tier defensive end to get pressure on the QB. The rest of their defense isn't bad, but they look like they are because they have the inability to get pressure. Chris Long can do just that, and play the run pretty well too.
3 Team Image Oakland Raiders Darren McFadden RB Arkansas 6-1 217
Not necessarily a position of need for Oakland, and they have a lot of them. But isn't JaMarcus Russell handing the ball off to Darren McFadden for the next 10 years too good to pass up on?
4 Team Image Kansas City Chiefs Glenn Dorsey DT LSU 6-2 300
Very Fortunate that Glenn Dorsey is still on the board, the Chiefs may have the easiest selection of the entire draft. A top flight defensive tackle, which they desperately need, to go alongside Jared Allen at end. All of a sudden that D-Line isn't to bad
5 Team Image Atlanta Falcons Jake Long T Michigan 6-7 305
Atlanta badly needs a franchise quarterback. But it's a little early for Brohm. Atlanta also needs a better offensive line, for whatever quarterback they do end up getting. Enter Jake Long, a consistent left tackle who will be a mainstay in the NFL.
6 Team Image New York Jets Vernon Gholston DE Ohio State 6-4 260
Flashes of brilliance while at Ohio State, he also disappeared in a few games. But has the potential to be an outstanding linebacker or hybrid LB/DE in the NFL. Could be a big time pickup for New York.
7 Team Image New England Patriots Mike Jenkins CB South Florida 5-11 200
New England has to have a cornerback to play alongside Asante Samuel. Ellis Hobbs was exposed in the playoffs, and especially the super bowl, as a mediocre player. It's either Mike Jenkins or Aqib Talib at this pick for NE.
8 Team Image Baltimore Ravens Aqib Talib CB Kansas 6-1 180
This could be a few different players. I think they go with Aqib Talib. Samari Rolle isn't getting any younger, and they have to have a good young corner to go opposite Chris McAllister.
9 Team Image Cincinnati Bengals Sedric Ellis DT Southern California 6-1 295
Ellis dominated all season at USC, and also did so at the Senior Bowl. Would be a great pickup for Cincinnati, who badly needs help on defense. Ellis is an immediate upgrade for the Cincy defense.
10 Team Image New Orleans Saints Leodis McKelvin CB Troy 5-11 190
This pick is between McKelvin and Kentwan Balmer. And between the two, McKelvin has to be the pick. It's a little bit too high for Balmer, and the Saints can't be too picky, as they badly need players at both positions.
11 Team Image Buffalo Bills Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma 6-4 220
A bit of a reach arguably, with DeSean Jackson still on the board. But they wouldn't really need him for returns, and they already have a speed threat in Lee Evans. They need someone with good hands to complement him, and that's why they pick up Kelly.

Check out Ticket City today for all sorts of deals on NFL, NCAA and NBA tickets.
12 Team Image Denver Broncos Phillip Merling DE Clemson 6-5 270
Denver needs someone to get pressure from the edge. They obviously have good corners in Champ Bailey and Dre Bly, but they can't just leave them out on islands all the time. Phillip Merling has been shooting up draftboards and Denver pulls the trigger.
13 Team Image Carolina Panthers DeSean Jackson WR California 5-11 165
A minor slide for Jackson, the Carolina Panthers are a perfect fit. First, they need help at wide receiver going along with Steve Smith. But they also need a lot of help in kick/punt returns and Jackson is a tremendous upgrade in both areas.
14 Team Image Chicago Bears Brian Brohm QB Louisville 6-3 232
The Bears are in desperate need of a QB of the future and they pick one up in Brian Brohm. He has all the tools that you want in a young quarterback, I think he is a steal at 14.
15 Team Image Detroit Lions Ryan Clady T Boise State 6-5 320
Detroit needs somebody to protect Kitna so he has a chance to find those receivers, and Clady is a good pickup midway through the first round.
16 Team Image Arizona Cardinals Derrick Harvey DE Florida 6-4 252
Not totally a position of need, but Arizona could still use a solid pass rushing defensive end. Harvey slides a little but I think this is about the right spot for him.
17 Team Image Minnesota Vikings Limas Sweed WR Texas 6-4 220
Minnesota needs to get QB Tavaris Jackson someone to throw the ball too, and someone to complement the outstanding running game provided by Adrian Peterson. Peterson and Sweed can be a solid 1-2 punch for years to come.
18 Team Image Houston Texans Rashard Mendenhall RB Illinois 5-11 225
Houston needs a big time running back to go with a solid passing game. This is an up and coming team and Mendanhall might be able to put them over the top. Proved his abilities against a great defense in the Rose Bowl against USC.
19 Team Image Philadelphia Eagles Mario Manningham WR Michigan 5-11 180
Philly has to give McNabb (or maybe Kolb) a Wide Receiver to throw too. Right now their best is Kevin Curtis. I think this may be a bit of a stretch for Manningham, but the Eagles have to pull the trigger on this one.
20 Team Image Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kenny Phillips FS Miami 6-1 202
Tough to pass up on Phillips if your Tampa. An outstanding player at a position of need. Top 10 talent, but off the field issues drop him down until Tampa takes the risk, and I think it pays of big time. Very similar to Ed Reed, who also came out of the U
21 Team Image Washington Redskins Calais Campbell DE Miami 6-7 282
A nice position for Washington to be in, Campbell is one of the best players available and is at a position of need. Big and Fast, he is a handful 1 on 1. Needs to improve a little against the run, but has a chance to be a solid player.
22 Team Image Dallas Cowboys Jonathan Stewart RB Oregon 5-10 235
Dallas wants a running back to go alongside Marion Barber III. They get a good one here in Jonathan Stewart, who would have probably gone higher if not for possible durability issues. But he'll be splitting time anyway, so that eases some concerns.
N/A Team Image NFL Draft Tickets Discount Tickets to NFL Games N/A NCAA Football Tickets N/A N/A
Check out Ticket City today for all sorts of deals on NFL, NCAA and NBA tickets.
23 Team Image Pittsburgh Steelers James Hardy WR Indiana 6-6 220
Maybe a little early for Hardy, but Pittsburgh needs a big WR to look to in the Red Zone. Big Ben said he wants a tall receiver, and Hardy has a chance to be a great one. Will see the ball coming his way in the Red Zone from day one.
24 Team Image Tennessee Titans Early Doucet WR LSU 6-0 205
A little early for Doucet, but Tennessee absolutey has to have a WR. Wouldn't be shocked to see them trade up and make a move for Limas Sweed, Vince Young's favorite target during his championship season at Texas.
25 Team Image Seattle Seahawks Fred Davis TE Southern California 6-4 250
Seattle has to either take a TE or RB. So this pick is either going to be Fred Davis or Felix Jones. I think Fred Davis provides a little more value at this point. Maybe a running back in round 2, since this is a deep draft for them.
26 Team Image Jacksonville Jaguars Keith Rivers OLB Southern California 6-3 230
Keith Rivers has a chance to be an outstanding OLB at this level. Was arguably the leader on one of the best defenses in the country, I think this only improves on a defense that's already pretty good.
27 Team Image San Diego Chargers Sam Baker T Southern California 6-5 308
San Diego has to have a little help protecting Rivers. Baker has been extremely consistent for a few years at USC. A position of need, and one of the best players available at this point, this is a good pick for the Chargers.
28 Team Image Dallas Cowboys Dominque Rodgers CB Tennessee State 6-1 185
Terence Newman is a great cornerback. But Aaron Henry isn't getting any younger. Dominique Rodgers - Cromartie made major noise at the senior bowl, and finds himself going to big D in the First Round.
29 Team Image San Francisco 49ers Adarius Bowman WR Oklahoma State 6-4 220
San Francisco has to get a playmaking Wide Receiver. Bowman has a chance to be just that guy. While San Fran would prefer one of the 5 receivers taken before him, Bowman has first round talent, without question. Big time Red Zone target.
30 Team Image Green Bay Packers Reggie Smith FS Oklahoma 6-0 200
Green Bay needs to find another Defensive Back. At safety, every player they have can play either the pass or run, but not both. Reggie Smith can step in and be a solid upgrade for a team that already has a pretty good defense.
31 Team Image New England Patriots N/A N/A N/A - -
*** This Draft Selection was Forfeit ***
32 Team Image New York Giants Felix Jones RB Arkansas 6-0 200
New York already has their guy in Brandon Jacobs. But Felix Jones will provide the perfect complement to Jacobs. World Class speed, and can even help in the return game if necessary.

  1. Did you watch the NFL Draft last year cause denver already chose two DE in the first and second rounds last year

  2. I know, but Groves will move to linebacker anyway, as I mentioned.

  3. I would say Denver's interior line is more of a concern than the ends. Remember that they got hit pretty hard with injuries at the end position, Jarvis Moss, last years first rounder I don't believe played a single game. Also, I'm not sold on Groves being able to play LB in a 4-3 defense.

  4. Agree to disagree I guess. I think Groves is definitely good enough to become a solid NFL Linebacker. Denver will have an idea before they draft him what he can do. He's already perfect size for a linebacker, doesn't need to lose or gain weight.

  9. The only thing that seems to be wrong with this draft would be that the chiefs wouldnt take dorsey over long. The chiefs need an offensive lineman and they just took defensive linemen with their second and third round pick last year.

  10. very nice packers draft

    Posted by packerfan96 | 02/18/2008 03:33 PM
  11. i think the chiefs would take dorsey because he is just better than long. it's a bit of an upset that he slips to 4. your referring to tank tyler and i forget the others one name, but honestly i don't think there is any way they pass on glenn dorsey because of them. i watched the hard knocks series and it seemed they were pretty dissapointed with both of them

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/18/2008 05:39 PM
  12. also i don't think im going to do a 3rd and 4th round. honestly too do them i feel id have to have some type of inside information (in other words do this for a living, like todd mcshay or mel kiper). otherwise after 2 rounds it's really just guessing.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/18/2008 05:41 PM
  13. i completely disagree with Felix Jones at the end of round one. NY has much bigger needs than another RB. S, CB, and LB will all be addressed before RB. They have Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw all on the depth chart. All saw significant playing time and all contributed big time. CB is most likely the number one pick, unless Connor falls to 32

Posted by Seth Murphy | 02/18/2008 07:23 PM
  14. i honestly agree, but felix jones is the best player available at that point. there is someone every year who makes a pick that's outside an area of need. I think if Rivers is there they take him or if dominique rodgers falls to them they jump at it. but i honestly think there is no great value pick for that point for their major needs.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/18/2008 09:11 PM
  15. I believe that is a little high for both Antoine Cason and Dan Connor, which are really the main positions of need.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/18/2008 09:12 PM
  16. Vikings aren't going to draft a WR in round 1. Childress doesn't believe in doing so and there is such great depth that a good WR can be had in round 2 or even 3. Calais Campbell would be the pick at #17. As for the second rounder, Hefney just ins't worht #48 overall I wouldn't touch any safety other than DaJaun Morgan in the 2nd. A TE,WR,or OT would be better there.

I also noticed you have Chris Williams OT Vanderbilt going too low. Williams is going to end up being mid-late 1st round pick.

    Posted by Crazy_Chris | 02/19/2008 05:59 PM
  17. Why the heck would the Giants pick Jones when they have 4 rbs (Jacobs,Bradshaw,Ward,Droughts) they basiclly dont have a huge need all they need is a tackle

Posted by Matt Salvatore | 02/19/2008 07:07 PM
  18. you said it, they don't have a huge need. when that's the case you generally are going to take the best player available. that's why i had them taking jones.

as for the vikings, how do you know, did you have a chat with Childress lately. their biggest need, BY FAR, is wide receiver. why wait until round 2 when the talent pool is obviously lesser. they'll take who they think is the best receiver when they are picking, which is Limas Sweed (assuming he proves he isn't injured anymore).

and as for williams i disagree he will go that high. obviously i am not expert, but you aren't either and this isn't an exact science. not trying to insult you, you could very well be right, but i do disagree he will go that high (for the record so does mel kiper, who is an expert)

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/19/2008 08:35 PM
  19. first of all WR isn't 'BY FAR' their biggest need DE is a close second with S not too far behind. Secondly Chilldress has made it clear he doesn't believe in drafting WR's in round 1. Some teams/coaches just don't value certain positions as much as others. Like a coach running a tampa two defense won't value CB too high. Childress(and Andy Reid) just doesn't value WR's as highly as other positions in the first round. Of course that excludes once in a decade prospects(such as Calvin Johnson) but there are no WR's that good in this class.

As for the Chris Williams comments their are other experts too. Mike Mayock another highly respected talent evaluator has him rated as the 4th OT behind only Long, Clady, and Otah. Actually for the record Mel Kiper has Chris Williams rated #14 on his big board.

  20. i still disagree about minnesota. Wide Receiver, in my opinion is their biggest need by far. they were the best team in the league against the rush, which means their d-line isn't that bad. as long as they have the williams boys they will be all right. there is a reason peterson slowed down at the end of the year, and that's because he was constantly facing 8 or 9 man fronts and teams were challenging receivers to go one on one against corners. Minnesota doesn't have one that can win any battles. he would be absolutely foolish not to pick a WR in round 1. also i don't think that's a good analogy to the tampa 2 with valuing corners. that defense takes value off of the corner just because of what they have to do. there is no offense that makes a wide receiver not quite as important.

i was wrong about kiper, and i was looking at his mock draft, which has him going 13 to carolina. and again, i said you could very well be right, it's not like this is an exact science.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/20/2008 10:24 AM
  21. and before you say anything i do realize the williams boys are tackles, but i think they make that end position look better cuz people have to pay more attention to them. i just re-read what i said and i could see where you would think i was saying they were ends but im aware they are tackles.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/20/2008 10:26 AM
  22. actually that was mcshay's, i know about kiper's big board. he has him going 19th to the eagles. anyway, i obviously disagree. but i'm sure doubting myself quite a big now. i think he'll slip at the combine a little.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/20/2008 10:45 AM
  23. our d-line isn't bad aginast the rush but the D-line was part of the reason the Vikings pass defense was bad. It lacked a consistent pass rush that absolutly necesary for the tampa 2 they run. Than you add in the fact the Kenechi Udeze has come down with Cancer and it really makes DE a huge need.

I really don't understand why so many people think AD facing 8 & 9 man boxes was the reason he slowed down. He had been facing 8 & 9 man boxes all year long in fact some of his best runs/games were against those 8 & 9 man boxes. Another thing to point otherwise is in the same games that Adrian slowed down Chester Taylor averaged 7.9 yards per carry.

The Analogy may not be the best but it still gets the point across. That point is Brad Childress just doesn't value WR's high enough to draft them in round 1.

    Posted by Crazy_Chris | 02/20/2008 05:09 PM
  24. i honestly believe the main reason your pass defense was bad was because your rush defense was so good. people just threw and eventually the numbers are going to accumulate. there are only a few DE's in the league who can play both the pass and rush, and i don't think at 17 your going to find one.

8 and 9 man fronts may not have been the whole reason he slowed down, and yes he saw some against chicago and some of the other games he played well. but chicago also mixed in some 6 and 7 man fronts, which is when peterson would break a 30 yard run. after that, it was just 8 and 9 man fronts. either way, a good receiver who can beat man coverage consistently is going to putt less people in the box and open up the box for more games like chicago.

also, i agree you need a defensive end, but i just think you need a receiver quite a bit more. and yes, this is a deep draft for receivers, but your not going to get someone as talented as sweed, jackson, or kelly (if he's there) in round 2.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/20/2008 10:40 PM
  25. While I find it hard to believe Denver will take another two DEs, this is one of the better drafts I have seen here on MyMockDraft. Given all the comments, I would seem a lot of people agree. Great work Michael!

    Posted by DeepRough | 02/21/2008 08:29 AM
  26. Coples will be converting to linebacker in my draft. definitely don't see them just drafting 2 players to play end. Thanks, i like to think i know some of what i'm talking about

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/21/2008 01:31 PM
  27. The absurd amount of times the Vikings were passed against is part of the reason but just one piece. In order this is what was wrong with the pass defense. 1.)Lack of consistent pass rush from DE. 2.)The Abdsurd amount of times we got passed on due to run D 3.)Mediocre Safety play. 4). Having a group of young CBs get the majority of playing time.

Really I don't see how a rookie is going to help with beating man coverage consistently. The chances that a rookie(such as Limas Sweed) are going to come in and be able to produce right away are extrodanarily slim. The Vikings already have Sidney Rice to do so next year anyways.

Really the Vikings don't need WR quite a bit more than DE though. They already have some good pieces in place. Sidney Rice had a very nice rookie year, and is a starter next year. Bobby Wade would be good in a Wes Welker type role(which is what they signed him for). Andraue Allison made some great plays near the end of last year. The Vikes just need a #2 guy to line up next to Sidney Rice.

DE is a mess the Vikes have some young talent there too(Ray Edwards, Brian Robison). But they are both more suited to play RDE. Than they have Erasmus James(also better suited as RDE) who has a ton of potential but the only thing he can be counted on for right now is that he will get hurt. There is a big hole at LDE that Calais Campbell would fill nicely. Really when you get down to it DE is a much more important position to the Vikings considering they run the tampa two.

I have enjoyed the Debate, but I'm just going to leave it at that now. As DeepRough said you indeed have one of the better mocks on this site I can tell you put a good amount of thought into it nice job.

    Posted by Crazy_Chris | 02/21/2008 05:25 PM
  28. I think Limas Sweed especially can come in and contribute soon. Bobby Wade can be in a Wes Welker type role all he wants, but those are pretty lofty goals for Bobby Wade. Also, you have have a very young QB, RB, and WR, your not drafting that final piece to come in a put you over the top. I agree you need an end and a safety as well, but not quite as much, at least in my opinion. Rice did come on, but if you can have Sweed or Kelly to along with him, and that running game, then that would be an outstanding young core.

One thing I would worry about as a Viking fan (which i'm not,and am in fact a packer's fan) would be the play of Tavaris Jackson. I think he has a chance to be ok, but honestly as a Green Bay fan at this point I'm not all that worried.

I've enjoyed the debate as well, and thanks I definitely appreciate that.

  30. i would but i don't know how to login to see the page. they won't let me because i only have it on facebook.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/22/2008 05:32 PM
  31. i'll do it if you tell me what to do. honestly if you want to know my feedback on the application, I think it's perfectly fine. The only thing I would change would be a limit on the explanation for draft picks. There were a few picks where i would explain and it would say i said too much. Other than that I think it's great

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/22/2008 10:13 PM
  32. Don't forget that the Pats have Sammy morris as well as Maroney and Faulk. They don't need another back. And don't tell me that Morris is to old, because when he was in, he was tearing up the field.

    Posted by bradymoss=champs | 02/23/2008 05:00 PM
  33. yeh but the patriots really don't have a major position of need in my opinion. Slaton would just add another home run threat to that dynamic offense. I think the Pats will resign Asante Samuel, if they don't resign him, then i think they draft another cornerback.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/23/2008 05:39 PM
  34. I get where you are coming from with the BPA for the Giants. I dont see them being able to utilize Jones to make the pick valuable. Maybe as a kick returner, though they have Hixon, Mcquarters, and Ross. But he would be the 3rd or 4th option in the backfield that already has the change of pace back in Bradshaw.

The giants need help in the secondary, OL and linbacking core. If they pass on Conner, Otah, and Flowers to fill glaring holes to make a lateral move I would be surprised.

Flowers is a beast, him and Ross would be the core for a good defense for years

Otah is a very good tackle. I think he is more naturaly a RT but could be coached to play LT. Could move Diehl back to G and upgrade 2 positions with one pick.

Conner would be an upgrade to a LB core that needs to get faster and more athletic.

Just my .02$ Though getting an exceptional RB isnt exactly a 'bad' pick, I dont think it very valuable for the G-men. Like a Ferrari in Alaske, sure its fast and great to look at but when are you going to get to drive it?

    Posted by osleboy1 | 02/24/2008 09:53 PM
  35. As I have stated before, I agree. I honestly believe Brandon Flowers is the most underrated player in this entire draft. I watched VA Tech a few times and in every game he made many huge plays. That being said, I don't believe he is going near that high. Somebody every single draft, picks someone they really don't need, because they feel that they are the best player available and may have dropped down in the draft a little. I believe that's what happens with Jones going to New York. In most years, he's probably a top 15 pick, but with McFadden, Mendenhall, and Jonathon Stewart he is going no higher than the top of the first round. I think they may have gone for Keith Rivers, but that he showed at the combine he needs to be way higher. I think New York is somewhat stuck and goes with who they feel is the best player available.

Posted by Michael Keller | 02/25/2008 12:58 AM
  36. Chiefs wouldn't pass up a shot at a franchise OT like Jake Long or Ryan Clady to replace Willie Roaf who was missed big time last year IMO.

a lot have Cinci getting Ellis but they are extremely thin at LB and Rivers should go there (or at least before 26th overall)

Desean Jackson just doesn't fit with the Panthers too much like steve smith, plus we are trying to develop Dwayne Jarrett for the 2, also with the addition of Muhammed yesterday

Manningham will freefall (late second?)after that combine.

Its a myth that Tampa needs a Free Safety, Tanard Jackson drafted in the 3rd round last year has filled that position nicely.

Fred Davis in the 1st? a bit of a reach when they're rumored to be about to release Shaun Alexander and will need an RB.

The Giants won the superbowl with Jacobs and rookie Ahmad Bradshaw for the second half of the season why mess that up getting another young RB?

    Posted by ajpalma1 | 02/28/2008 01:56 AM
  37. for round 2:
Also, isn't Denver getting a DE in Rounds 1 and 2 for a second year in a row excessive with too much money into one position even if groves moves

For Carolinas Coaching staff its all out or bust and I don't think they will get a project player in 2nd when they have to win now or be fired.
